Onogawa Onsen Ski Resort is a small hillside slope a short walk from the hot-spring village of Onogawa Onsen, on the edge of Yonezawa in Yamagata. One pair lift serves a single 500 m run with an average gradient of 12 degrees, which suits families and children taking their first turns. Skiing began here in 1923, and since 2011 the slope has been run by a local non-profit that keeps it going with children's ski classes and badge tests. It opens mainly on weekends, holidays and over New Year, and the onsen inns nearby make it easy to warm up afterwards. It is about half an hour by car or bus from Yonezawa Station.
