Mount Kuriko

Mount Kuriko is a roughly 1217 m peak on the boundary of Yonezawa City in Yamagata and Fukushima City in Fukushima, the highest summit of the Kuriko range that divides the Yonezawa and Fukushima basins along the Ōu Mountain spine. The Meiji-era Bansei-Ōro highway pierced its flanks via the old Kuriko Tunnel, and the modern Tōhoku Chūō Expressway now tunnels directly beneath. The Fukushima-side route is faint and most climbers approach from the Yonezawa side, with the peak counted among the 1003 Japanese mountains by elevation.
