Makomanai Ski Area Closed
Official name 真駒内スキー場
Hokkaido
Open 1980–2007
Makomanai Ski Area was a Prince Hotels ski hill in Tokiwa, Minami-ku, Sapporo, near the Sapporo Art Park. Opened in 1980, it had three beginner and intermediate slopes between about 240 m and 460 m, four lifts including a high-speed quad, and the Makomanai Big Pipe, one of Hokkaido's few FIS-certified halfpipes. Only about 15 minutes by bus from Makomanai subway station, with tickets from two hours upward, it was busy with local families and school ski classes. During the Seibu group's restructuring no buyer was found, and it closed after the season ended in March 2007. Seibu Real Estate is now returning the slope to forest, and a solar plant stands on the flat land at its foot.
