Maiko Snow Resort trail map
Maiko Snow Resort sits right beside the Shiozawa-Ishiuchi exit of the Kan-etsu Expressway, which makes it one of the easiest big ski areas in Niigata to reach from Tokyo. A gondola links three areas: family-friendly Maiko, steeper Nagamine with an off-piste zone, and Okusoechi, where the longest run stretches about 6 km. There is a terrain park, mogul lines and a registered tree-run area for stronger riders, while families get kids' parks, a childcare room, an onsen in the day lodge and a hotel on the slopes. Night skiing runs on weekends, and a free shuttle comes from Echigo-Yuzawa Station.

Backcountry
No backcountry gates; a Nagamine off-piste zone and an ungroomed Okusoechi area open only in suitable conditions, and the tree-run area needs free advance registration.
