Kakumanji Ski Area Closed
Official name 角万寺スキー場
Niigata
Opened in 1986
Kakumanji Ski Area was a small community hill beside Chofukuji temple in the former town of Kawanishi, now part of Tokamachi, Niigata. Opened in 1986, it was run by local volunteers and donors together with the town and was used mostly by local children and families. A single rope tow of about 270 m served two short runs over roughly 50 m of vertical. It closed around the mid-2000s; the tow has been removed, but the slope and a sign bearing the ski area's name remain.
