Chateau Shiozawa sits on the Shiozawa plateau in Minamiuonuma, where its Yoshizato and Ipponsugi slopes meet at the top of Mt. Gaki. Each base has its own hotel, Chateautel Yoshizato and Chateautel Ipponsugi, so the area has long hosted family ski trips, school ski camps and group stays. Most runs, such as the Kamoshika course, are gentle (the Champion course is the advanced one), and the SAJ-certified ski school offers kids' lessons from age four. Preschoolers ride free, and there are parent-and-child and local resident tickets. It is about 15 minutes by car from the Shiozawa-Ishiuchi exit of the Kan-Etsu Expressway.

- Shinkansen Echigo-Yuzawa Station Joetsu Shinkansen / JR Joetsu Line · 2025-26 season · Departs Echigo-Yuzawa Station 9:00-11:00 (no booking needed). After 17:30 use a taxi → Shuttle bus from the East Exit (winter ski season, only for guests of Chateautel Ipponsugi / Yoshizato; no service on weekdays and public holidays)
