Genze Ski Area Closed
Official name ゲンゼスキー場
Kyoto
Open 1951–2001
Genze Ski Area was a small ski hill in the Genze district of Itafu, in former Yakuno town (now Fukuchiyama), Kyoto Prefecture, along prefectural road 56. With one lift and night-skiing lights, it was known as a quiet family slope, and at its peak about ten guesthouses operated nearby and ski buses came in. Scant snowfall and better roads that carried skiers to bigger resorts cut visitor numbers sharply; after several seasons without operating, it is said to have closed in 2001.
