Yakigahana
八木ヶ鼻

Yagigahana is a rock peak in Kitaimokawa, Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, where a wall of quartz trachyte more than 200 metres high rises above the upper Ikarashi River. The face is famous lit by the morning sun; it is designated a Niigata prefectural natural monument as a peregrine falcon breeding site and is one of the prefecture's hundred scenic places. Directly beneath the cliff is Sanjo City's Yagigahana Park, which looks out to Awagatake and Sumondake with the Ikarashi River below.
