Nihonboso is a 996 m viewpoint peak on the border of Tsu, Mie Prefecture, and Soni Village, Nara Prefecture, on the ridge from Kameyama Pass above the pampas-grass Soni Highland toward Kurosoyama (1,037 m). Its name is said to come from two large 'hoso' trees that once stood there, and the section from Nihonboso to the summit of Kurosoyama crosses private land where a 500-yen entry fee is charged. The lookout called Iwashi-no-kuchi lies just nearby.
