Mt. Shishin

Mt. Shishin (1,031 m) rises in Nanbu Town, Yamanashi. Its name comes from a legend that Nichiren, while training at nearby Mt. Minobu, came here to gaze toward Awa province and remember his parents. From JR Ide Station the standard hike climbs to Sano Pass and follows the Tōkai Nature Trail to the summit in about an hour. The summit overlooks the south-west face of Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay; "Diamond Fuji" can be seen here in mid-May and late July. Listed in the Yamanashi 100 Hiking Courses.
