Mt. Otowayama

Otowayama is an 851.7 m peak on the border of Sakurai and Uda cities in Nara Prefecture, the northernmost summit of the Otowa-sanzan trio together with Kyōgatsukayama and Kumagatake. Identified as Mount Kurahashi in the Man'yōshū poetry anthology, its slope holds Otowasan Kannon-ji, a temple said to date to 749. The summit's Man'yō observation deck commands views of the Nara Basin, Mount Nijō, and as far as the Osaka Plain on clear days. The mountain is listed among the Kansai 100 Famous Mountains and the Nara 100 Recreation Mountains.
