Mt. Miminashi

Miminashiyama is a 139.7 m solitary cone in the centre of Kashihara City, Nara — together with Unebiyama and Amanokaguyama it forms the Yamato Sanzan, the three classical mountains of the ancient capital, designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty in 2005. The hill is an eroded volcanic stub whose almost perfectly conical profile rises straight from the plain, and its position is thought to have served as the central axis reference for the layout of the 7th-century Fujiwara-kyō capital. Miminashiyamaguchi Shrine sits on the summit and the trailhead is only a fifteen-minute walk from Kintetsu Yamato-Yagi Station, making this the usual starting point of the Yamato Sanzan walking circuit.
