Mount Washibetsu is a 911 m peak on the border between Muroran City and Noboribetsu City in Hokkaido, locally beloved by Muroran residents as Muroran-dake. While the Edo-era authorities formally adopted the name Washibetsu, the Muroran-dake variant has prevailed locally — a 1934 stone marker at the trailhead reads "Muroran-dake trailhead," and Geographical Survey Institute maps show both names. At the foot of the mountain Muroran City has developed the Muroran-dake Sanroku Sōgō Park (Danpara Park) and the Hakuchō Hut. The southern ridge route reaches the top in about one hour and the western ridge in roughly an hour and a half. The mountain features in Hokkaidō Hyakumeizan and Shin Hana no Hyakumeizan.
