Mount Kyu-Rakan (1,334 m) straddles the border of Akiota Town, Yamagata District, Hiroshima Prefecture and Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture, within the Nishi-Chugoku Sanchi Quasi-National Park. It forms a twin-peak ridge with Mount Osorakan, the highest summit of the Chugoku region, and is normally traversed together with it. Old-growth beech forest lines the ridge, and the rocky western face of the summit offers views toward Mount Jakuchi and Mount Anzoji.
