The south peak of Mount Kogo, 960 m, rises beside the 953 m main summit on the boundary of Mitsue and Soni villages in Nara Prefecture. Kogo has a bold profile, vitreous biotite rock and quartzite, a 360-degree summit panorama and striking jutting crags. It lies in Muro-Akame-Aoyama Quasi-National Park. The south peak and nearby Tenguiwa offer views of Miuneyama and Takamiyama.
