A 1,164.7-meter lava plateau on the northern edge of the Aokigahara Forest Sea in Narusawa Village (Minamitsuru District), Yamanashi Prefecture, sitting on top of the Aokigahara lava flow laid down by Mt. Fuji's flank eruptions about 1,200 years ago. From the terrace beside the summit rest-house the view sweeps over the dark canopy of Aokigahara to Lake Sai and Lake Motosu, with World Heritage Mt. Fuji rising directly opposite. The Tōkai Nature Trail links Kōyōdai south to Sankodai and on to Gokodai (Ashiwada-yama), and the Narusawa Ice Cave and Narusawa Roadside Station lie within easy reach. Listed in the Yamanashi 100 Hiking Course Best and the Tokyo-area 350 Mountains.
