2,230 m · Minami-Alps, Yamanashi · 1.8 km from the summit of Mount Kita

Hut of Minami-Alps City at 2,236m beside the Shirane pond on the north-east flank of Kitadake in the Southern Alps. It stands above the climbing base at Hirogawara, three to four hours below the summit of Kitadake, and with the peak rising straight ahead it serves as a night-before and staging point. The present two-storey steel building was completed in October 2005: downstairs a dining room, self-catering corner and drying room, upstairs twelve guest rooms of varying size, sleeping 61 in all. The campsite takes 80 people. Spring water from Kitadake is free, and passing hikers as well as guests may fill up. Both hut and tent stays are strictly by online reservation; phone bookings are not accepted. Outside the season part of the upper floor is opened as a winter shelter. Managed by the NPO Ashiyasu Fan Club.
