Teshio Town Ski Area is a small one-lift hill that the town of Teshio in northern Hokkaido built to keep its residents active. It is about ten minutes by car from the town centre and the Michi-no-Eki Teshio roadside station, and families come from neighbouring towns too. On clear days skiers look out over the Sea of Japan to Mt. Rishiri. The hill opens in the afternoons, adds night skiing three evenings a week, making it an easy local slope to drop in on. The season runs from January to early March.
