Nakagawa Town Ski Area is a small municipal hill on the edge of town in Nakagawa, northern Hokkaido, a ten-minute walk from Teshio-Nakagawa Station. Its gentle slope suits beginners and intermediate skiers, and it serves mainly local children and families: skiing is free for junior-high students and younger. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings the hill also opens for night skiing. The season starts in late December once there is enough snow and runs to the end of March.
