Muikamachi Sakado was a small ski area at the north-western foot of Mt Sakado, just over a kilometre east of central Muikamachi in Minamiuonuma, close to the Sakado Castle ruins. It ran as Sakado Joshi from 1967, though locals had skied the slope before that, and grew from a single rope tow to one single chairlift serving a gentle run of about 500 m with 90 m of vertical. It closed in the early 2000s and the lift has since been removed.
