Hakuba Minekata was a small ski area about ten minutes by car from Hakuba Station, in the Minekata district of Hakuba Village. Two pair lifts served slopes between 840 m and 1,050 m, mostly beginner and intermediate runs that were rarely crowded and popular for practice and gate training. Its signature was a 5 km cross-country and snowshoe loop on the summit with a broad view of the Northern Alps. Without snowmaking, it depended on natural snow, and it closed after the 2013-14 season.
