Zōrizuka is a 1,908 m peak in the Iide Range, which straddles Fukushima, Yamagata and Niigata Prefectures. It lies on the Gosawa (Kawai) pilgrimage route of Iidesan (a "100 Famous Mountain," 2,105 m), between the Kiriawase hut and the main Iide summit, within Bandai-Asahi National Park. Its name ("sandal mound") derives from a tradition that worshippers changed their straw sandals here before approaching the sacred summit; the slopes nearby are noted for snow patches and alpine flower meadows.
