Mt. Torikura

Torikura-yama is a 2,023 m peak in Ōshika Village, Shimoina District, Nagano Prefecture, on the western flank of the Southern Alps. Its name was given to the Torikura Forest Road that climbs to Mibu Pass and the main ridge leading to Shiomi-dake. The summit holds a second-order triangulation point but is enclosed in forest with no view, and the mountain is little frequented — it is included in Tatsuhide Yamakei's "Quiet Mountains, Continued" anthology and counted among Japan's 642 peaks above 2,000 m. The access road is normally closed from mid-December until late April.
