Mt. Tomiyama is a 734.4 m peak on the border between Haibara, Uda City and Sakurai City in Nara Prefecture — the mountain identified in the Nihon Shoki as the site of Torimiyama-chū-no-Reiji, where Emperor Jinmu is said to have performed the first Niinamesai (harvest rite) after his eastern campaign. Just below the summit, Uda City's Torimiyama-kōen, centred on Magatama Pond, is renowned for its spring azaleas and autumn maples; an observation deck takes in the Yamato Basin and the Uda mountains. The peak is approached on foot from Kintetsu Haibara Station and is listed in the Nara Bunken Tozan Guide, the Nara Hyaku-Yū-zan and the Furusato Hyakumeizan.
