Mt. Shiragaiwa

Shiragaiwa is a 1,512 m rocky peak in the West-Jōshū area south of Mt. Inafukumi in southwestern Gunma Prefecture. Its summit holds an "original triangulation point" (gen-sankaku-sokuten) set by the Home Ministry's Geographic Bureau in the early Meiji era — one of only three known to survive (with Mt. Yone and Mt. Kumotori). It has no clear trail and requires bushwhacking and map-reading skill. It features on the "300 Mountains of Gunma" and "120 Mountains of West-Jōshū."
