Mt. Senzokusan

Mt. Senzokusan is a 736 m mountain in the Mose district of Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture, crowned by a first-order triangulation point. It is the principal peak of the "Mochigase Alps," a chain that also includes Mt. Sankakuyama and Mt. Atagoyama, and on clear days its summit commands views as far as the Sea of Japan. Its name comes from a legend that the monk Kobo Daishi purified himself at a waterfall at its foot and enshrined Fudo Myoo there, and it also carries a legend of demons dwelling on it. With its varied granite ridges it is popular among hikers and is featured in the prefectural climbing guide for Tottori.
