Mt. Garyū

臥龍山

Mt. Garyū (also written 臥竜山, locally Kario) is a 1,223.4 m peak rising from the centre of the Yawata Highland in Kitahiroshima Town, Hiroshima Prefecture, and the town's highest summit. Its slopes hold roughly 300-year-old beech forest and rare Lindera–beech plant communities. The famous Setsurei-sui spring flows at the 8th-station, and nearby Lake Sei serves as a hiking and camping base. The mountain is part of the Nishi-Chūgoku Sanchi Quasi-National Park and is listed in Chūgoku 100 Mountains and Hiroshima 100 Mountains.
