Mt. Daidō-san (1,289 m) rises in the Kawahigashi mountains of Sakaki Town, Hanishina County, Nagano Prefecture; while topographic maps name it Daidō-san, locals call it Dōei-san. From Route 18 the Hirasawa forestry road leads to the trailhead, with about 1 hour 15 minutes to the summit. Stone Buddhist images dot the top, and the panorama sweeps over the Sakaki town center and the Chikuma River to a Northern Alps skyline running from Yari-Hotaka through Renge-dake to Jīga-dake.
