Mount Ozawa is a 1,089 m peak on the border between Shimonita Town and Nanmoku Village in Gunma Prefecture, nicknamed the Matterhorn of Nishi-Joshu for its sharply pointed silhouette. The summit holds a stone Dainichi Nyorai image and a small shrine, marking its long history as a sacred mountain, and offers a sweeping panorama from Myogi and Arafune through Asama to the Yatsugatake range. It is listed in the 100 Famous Mountains of Gunma and the Nanmoku Trekking Guide, among other selections.
