Mount Ōkomagatake

Mount Ōkomagatake (1,144 m) is one of the twin peaks of Heraidake on the border between Shingo Village and Towada City in Aomori Prefecture, paired with the slightly higher Mitsudake (1,159 m). Lying southeast of Lake Towada's outer rim, the ridge offers views over Lake Towada and across to the Hakkōda Range, Mount Iwaki, and Mount Iwate. The mountain takes its alternate name "Heraidake" from the nearby Herai hamlet, locally tied to a folk legend that Christ came to Japan and is buried there. The peak is listed in the Tōhoku 100 Famous Mountains.
