A 410-meter peak straddling Dazaifu, Ōnojō and Umi (Kasuya District) in Fukuoka Prefecture, and the highest of the four summits of Shiōji-san (with Iwaya-yama, Mizukame-yama and Ōhara-yama). Also called Ōno-yama. The slopes lie within the perimeter of the ancient Ōno-jō, an early Japanese mountain fortress built in 664 to guard the Dazaifu Government Office from continental threats; the 1.5 × 3 km network of stone walls and earthworks survives as a nationally designated Special Historic Site. Dazaifu City lays out an official walking route from Tofurōmae Station via Iwaya Castle ruins through the Ōki-yama precinct (Kagami-ga-ike, Hyakken-ishigaki, Yakigome-ga-hara), taking around 210 minutes. Listed in the Fukuoka Ultra-Low Mountains and the Bunken Tozan Guide volume for Fukuoka.
