Mount Masakadobanba

Masakadobanba is a 1,455-metre summit on the Ishione Ridge between Mount Takanosu and Mount Mutsuishi in Okutama Town, Western Tokyo, within Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park. Its name, also written 馬責場, comes from a legend that Taira no Masakado trained warhorses on this grassy shoulder. Because it sits slightly off the main traverse, few hikers visit, and it is regarded as one of the quiet way-points on the Ishione ridge.
