Mount Kashima

Mount Kashima (912 m) lies in Waichi, Shitara Town, in the Kita-Shitara District of Aichi Prefecture, on the south-east margin of the Mino-Mikawa Plateau in the Okumikawa highlands. The trail leaves from beside the great cedar at Ikeba Morigoshin Shrine, and the Tōkai Nature Trail traces a branch along the southern and western foot of the mountain. The summit is hemmed in by cedar and cypress with little view of its own, but the traverse linking Kashima with neighbouring Mount Daisuzu (1,011.9 m), Mount Hirayama-Myōjin, and Mount Iwakoya — the 'Four Peaks of Okumikawa' loop — opens onto sweeping panoramas of the South Alps from the Daisuzu ridge. The peak is listed among the Aichi 130 Mountains.
