Hiraya Kogen Ski Area trail map
Hiraya Kogen is the southernmost ski area in Nagano, a family hill on Route 153 in Hiraya village, popular for easy day trips by ordinary roads from Nagoya and Toyota. Its four runs all return to one base, which keeps things simple for families: the gentlest course has two snow conveyors, and there is a free beginners' slope plus a kids' park with a conveyor for sledding. Intermediate runs, a steeper advanced course and a park run with kickers and boxes give older riders something to do, snowboarding is allowed everywhere, and children up to junior-high age ski at the child rate. The winter season starts in late December, and in summer the slopes host buggy rides and camping.
