Mount Kanmuri

A 1,256 m peak on the main ridge of the Etsumi Mountains, straddling Ikeda Town in Fukui Prefecture and Ibigawa Town in Gifu Prefecture. Its sharp eboshi-cap silhouette has earned it the nickname "Matterhorn of the Okumino," and it is selected for the Japan 300 Famous Mountains. From Kanmuri Pass at roughly 1,000 m, a ridge trail leads about two hours to the summit; the access forest road is generally closed for winter from mid-November to late May.
