Umanose, at 859 m, is the usual hiking limit on Hokkaido-Komagatake, the active volcano symbolizing Onuma Quasi-National Park. The summit crater area, including Kengamine (1,131 m), is within a restricted 4 km radius. Seasonal access normally follows the Akaigawa trail from Mori to Umanose from June 1 to October 31, 9:00–15:00. However, the trail gate closed when the volcanic alert level rose to 2 on October 2, 2026, and entry is currently prohibited.
