Akita-Yakeyama is a 1,366 m active volcano in Kazuno, Akita, within Towada-Hachimantai National Park. Its summit has a crater about 600 m across and lava domes, and repeated phreatic eruptions have occurred over recent centuries. Trails lead from Goshogake and Tamagawa hot springs, but high volcanic-gas concentrations around Sakebizawa and Yunosawa keep the Beko-yachi–Yakeyama shelter section closed. The route from Goshogake goes via Mosen Pass.
