Emergency shelter at about 2,005m, roughly 100m south of the summit of Mt. Kumotori in Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, in Nippara, Okutama Town, western Tokyo. It stands on the crest of Tokyo's highest peak. According to the Okutama Visitor Center, the shelters in Okutama are for emergency refuge and visitors are asked not to use them otherwise. The toilet is usable, but all toilets attached to these shelters are of the vault type and no paper is provided. Some shelters have stream water nearby, though it may run dry, so hikers should carry plenty of water. Kumotori Sanso lodge is about 760m away. There is no mobile phone reception.
