2,794 m · Komagane, Nagano · 0.2 km from the summit of Mount Utsugi

Small mountain hut at 2,800m, roughly 100m east of and just below the summit of Utsugidake in the Central Alps. Run by a local alpine club, it opens only for summer and autumn and works as a self-catering hut: no meals are served and guests rent a sleeping bag. With the trailhead forest road closed, the approach now starts from the Komagane Kogen ski area car park and climbs the Ikeyama ridge past the Ikeyama-goya junction, about 6h30m in all. Highway buses reach Komagane IC in about 2h36m from Nagoya and 3h30m from Shinjuku. The hut's terrace, minutes below the summit, is its signature.
