滝谷避難小屋

An unstaffed emergency shelter at about 1,750m, standing in the forest on the left (Shinhotaka-side) bank of the Takidani stream, beside the Migimatadani forest road that runs from Shinhotaka Onsen toward Yaridaira. From the Shinhotaka Onsen bus stop the way passes the climbing guidance centre onto the forest road, then Hotakadaira hut, the check dam at Yanagidani, Shirodashizawa where the road ends (1,550m) and Chibidani (1,650m) before reaching Takidani; beyond it, past Minamisawa (1,900m), lies Yaridaira hut. The route fords the stream repeatedly and can become impassable in heavy rain, which is why a shelter was placed here. It is a publicly owned refuge managed by Gifu Prefecture's Environmental Planning Division, but heavy rain in mid-August 2025 caused a large-scale collapse of its foundations, and on 27 May 2026 the entrance was sealed and the building put out of use. The ground around it has become unstable and walkers are warned not to approach.
