From near Hosenji in northern Kofu, this short walk zigzags up to the Yumurayama castle site on the 446 m summit of Mount Yumura and back. The castle was built in 1523 by Takeda Nobutora as a lookout fort, and earthworks, moats and a reconstructed beacon platform remain, with ancient stone-mound tombs along the path and views over the Kofu Basin to Mount Fuji.
