Otome Kogen Ski Area Closed
Official name 乙女高原スキー場 · Formerly 金峰山麓スキー場乙女ゲレンデ
Yamanashi
Open 1951–2000
Otome Kogen Ski Area was a Yamanashi Prefecture-run ski hill on the Otome plateau, at about 1,700 m in the south-western Okuchichibu mountains in Makioka, Yamanashi City. It opened in January 1951, planned under the name Kinpusan-roku Ski Area Otome Slope, and closed in March 2000. Since then volunteers, led by the Otome Kogen fan club, have kept mowing the former runs, so the open slope survives as a subalpine meadow where azaleas and irises bloom from early summer into autumn, reached from a car park on the Crystal Line road.
