Morappu Ski Area Closed
Official name モーラップスキー場 · Formerly 国設モラップスキー場, 国設モーラップ山スキー場
Hokkaido · 290–490 m
Open 1963–2001
Morappu Ski Area was on the northern slopes of Mount Morappu (506.5 m), near the eastern shore of Lake Shikotsu in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, about 1 km off Route 453 and 2 km south of the Shikotsuko Onsen hot springs. Opened in December 1963, it had two single chairlifts, a gentle beginner run and a steep advanced run, plus night lighting; the steep run often lacked enough snow even in January. It stopped operating in 1994 and was formally abolished in 2001. The lifts and buildings are gone and trees cover the slope, leaving only a 'Ski Area Entrance' bus stop on the main road.
