Mizuho Highland trail map
Mizuho Highland in Ohnan, Shimane, is one of the big ski areas of western Japan, drawing skiers from Hiroshima, the San'in coast and Kyushu. A gondola climbs to the summit, and when the Chestnut course opens you can link runs into a top-to-bottom descent of about 3.7 km. Operations now centre on the Highland side, with five courses from gentle beginner runs to a steep advanced slope, plus a snow park split into beginner and advanced zones. A kids' sledding park and ski school make it easy for families. It sits close to the Mizuho exit of the Hamada Expressway. The former operator went bankrupt in 2020 and a new company reopened the hill in 2021.
