Keichozan Ski Area Closed

Official name 鶏頂山スキー場

Tochigi · 1,300–1,395 m

Open 1961–2000

Keichozan Ski Area lay on the northern foot of Mount Keicho in former Fujiwara, now part of Nikko in Tochigi, off the Nichien Momiji Line toll road north of Kinugawa. The Keichozan development company opened it in 1961, and in the 1970s, together with the neighbouring Keicho Kogen area, it formed the largest ski area in Tochigi. Gentle beginner and intermediate runs spread between about 1,300 m and 1,400 m, and later it shared lift tickets with the adjoining Maple Hill resort. Both closed around 2000-01 when their operator went bankrupt; the lifts have been removed, abandoned base buildings remain and the slopes are returning to forest.
