Hiroshima Kenmin no Mori Ski Area lies inside the prefectural forest park at the foot of the Hiba mountains, in the far north of Hiroshima. It runs on natural snow only, with no snowmaking, and its tree-lined runs look out over the snowy Hiba range and rime-coated beech woods. Two pair lifts and a rope tow serve four runs between 830 m and 1,080 m: a short family slope, the 1.2 km Kaede run, and the steeper Buna and Mizunara runs for stronger skiers, with some moguls. The season usually runs from mid-December to mid-March; the park centre has lodging, and the drive from the Shobara interchange takes about an hour.
