Atsutamura Ski Area Closed

Official name 厚田村スキー場

Hokkaido · 20–70 m

Open 1986–2009

Atsutamura Ski Area was a small local hill just off National Route 231 in Atsuta, a fishing town on the Sea of Japan coast that was a village of its own until it merged into Ishikari city in 2005. Opened around 1986, it had a single 274 m J-bar lift serving two gentle runs over about 50 m of vertical, and it was reserved for skiers. The easy slope, averaging about 12 degrees, was used by beginners, families and school ski classes. The area closed at the end of the 2000s, and most of the lift has since been taken down; the Atsuta Park lookout stands at the top of the old slope.
