Mt. Takeyama

Mount Takeyama is a 424 m peak in Shimomachi, Mimasaka City, Okayama Prefecture, and one of the Okayama 100 Mountains. Its summit holds the ruins of medieval Takeyama Castle, which appears in the Taiheiki chronicle and served three generations of the Shinmen clan from 1493 to 1600; the grandfather and father of swordsman Miyamoto Musashi are said to have served here as castle elders and sword instructors. The summit offers panoramic views toward Mount Ushiro, Okayama's highest peak, and the Musashi-no-Sato area.
