Mt. Sandōji

三童子山

Sandōji-yama is a 493 m village-mountain in the Takigahara district of Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, in the range that extends along the Kaga–Echizen border. The summit holds the ruins of medieval Sandōji Castle, captured by Sakuma Morimasa in the Sengoku era. The name comes from a Heian-period legend of three ascetic monks who trained at the Kuroiwa cave on the slope; Buddhist ritual implements have been recovered from the cave. The summit gives a clear view of the sacred Mount Hakusan. The mountain is included in the Mountains of Ishikawa (Bunken-tozan-guide) and Mountains of Ishikawa lists.
