Otomeyama is a 188-meter mountain on the grounds of Oya-ji temple (Oya Kannon) in the Oya district of Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture. Its tuff crags and red pines, likened to the "Matsushima on land," are designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty as the Oya rock formations. Once the domain of a Nikko Rinno-ji prince in the Edo period, it took its name ("forbidden mountain") from the ban on commoners entering during matsutake-gathering season. It is counted among the Oya Seven Famous Mountains.
